A Legacy Rooted in Wharton County
Eric Muegge’s story is deeply connected to the land he serves. Eric was raised on a farm and ranch in the Crescent area of Wharton County.
Growing up immersed in agriculture gave him both a natural understanding of rural property and a deep respect for the families who work the land.
After graduating from Wharton High School in 1969, Eric attended the University of Houston on a football scholarship, earning a degree in Marketing Technology in 1973. He began his real estate career in commercial real estate where he gained valuable experience in land syndication, development, and commercial brokerage. These early years laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong career in real estate. Eric returned home to Wharton to open his own brokerage in 1975. With that decision, C.E. Muegge Real Estate was born.
A Family Tradition
From the very beginning, family has been at the heart of the company’s success. Eric’s late father, E.C. Muegge; his late father-in-law, Lee Roy Lundquist; and his late uncle, I.J. Irvin, each joined the firm during its early years. All were successful in their own careers before entering real estate as a second profession, bringing with them invaluable wisdom, work ethic, and community relationships that helped shape the firm’s strong reputation.
Today, that legacy continues with Eric’s son, Layne Muegge, along with dedicated team members Ashlyn Becerra and Marilyn Munson-Clark. Together with Eric, they remain committed to serving clients with honesty, integrity, and unmatched local knowledge.
